A Brief History of the Community
Beginning in 1987, the development team embraced the vision of Governors Club. The development team was comprised of experienced real estate and country club executives who had been involved in four major residential developments and numerous subdivisions. The rolling terrain was ideal for a 24-hour gated primary home residential community and the mountainside would provide home sites with panoramic views in all directions. After many months, the development team acquired 33 parcels of land totaling approximately 1,600 acres.
The development team created a community unlike any other. Governors Club enjoys recognition as one of the premiere residential golf course communities in the Southeast.
